Mutineer Nationals

The 2009 Mutineer 15 National Championship was held on Lake Guntersville in Alabama earlier this month. It was a great event with 19 boats, 11 races over 3 days in all conditions (except warm and sunny!), and the winner was…
Nickels Boat Works!
Actually my crew Mike Ruwitch and I were honored to win the regatta by a very slim margin in a very close 4-way battle. The top 3 boats were only separated by 2 points. Sailing Nickels Mutineer #8002 was very important in our success with its reliability, stiffness, and ease of handling. Its good looks are a bonus!
But when you look at the overall results and realize that of the 19 boats in the regatta, 3 were built by NBW, and they finished in 3 of the top 4 places, then it really is true that the winner in the regatta was Nickels Boat Works.
My thanks to Hugh and the staff at NBW for building such a great boat. It’s a real pleasure to sail, whether racing, daysailing, or teaching a lesson.
