Snipe

The Snipe is a two person, one design racing boat. The Snipe was originally designed in 1931 by William Crosby, and has evolved into a modern, tactical racing dinghy with fleets around the world. Although originally designed in 1931, Nickels Boat Works Snipes have kept pace with the class changes for improved hull design and speed. A NBW Snipe has a unique hull design which helps to maintain its shape and provide a better long wetted surface. A NBW hull will plane faster in heavy air. The Snipe Class has some of the best competition in the world, yet it has not lost sight of the importance of social events. Many regattas are as well known for their parties as they are for their racing. The essence of the class is summed up by its motto: Serious Sailing, Serious Fun.®
